TERRY KELLY TO LAUNCH NEW BLUENOSE SONG AT SNYDER'S SHIPYARD OCTOBER 6

DAYSPRING, NS (September 26, 2007) - Award-winning singer, songwriter and entertainer Terry Kelly and co-writing partner Floyd King have written a musical toast to the legendary schooner 'Bluenose' and will launch the new song during the Inaugural Open House at Snyder's Shipyard Saturday October 6.

"Floyd King and I are honoured and delighted to have been invited by the Roué family to be a part of Nova Scotian, Canadian and World history in the making," said Terry Kelly, who enthusiastically agreed to write the song after being approached by Joan Roué, great-granddaughter of 'Bluenose' designer William J. Roué and founder of the project to build 'Bluenose IV'.

"We were absolutely thrilled to imagine Terry agreed to do this," said Roué. "But when I heard the song for the first time a couple of weeks ago, it literally brought tears to my eyes and was immediately and permanently etched in my mind. Terry’s passion for life, for his music, and for Canada – along with his incredible talent – is the absolute perfect combination for a song that tells the tale of our beloved 'Bluenose'.”

The event will see Snyder's Shipyard open to the public allowing up close views of a shipyard that first opened in 1876 - has since seen the construction of over 200 vessels, repairs to hundreds more - and will soon build ‘Bluenose IV'.

The Bluenose Sloop currently under construction at the yard will be on display exhibiting the talents of Snyder's traditional wooden shipbuilding skills. The 23' daysailer is a miniature version of the schooner 'Bluenose' - both designed by William J. Roué; Snyder's is the exclusive authorized commercial builder of the 'Bluenose Sloop'.

The core team leading the 'Bluenose IV' project, including representatives from Snyder's Shipyard and Queen of the North Atlantic Enterprises, will be on hand to greet old friends and make new friends.

Original design drawings for both 'Bluenose' and 'Bluenose IV' will also be on display.

The stage on which Kelly will perform the new 'Bluenose' song is the platform built by Snyder's to lay the lines and do the lofting for 'Bluenose IV'. The 80' x 32' platform is located in the big boat shed, which features landmark architecture reminiscent of the heyday of wooden shipbuilding in the area.

The new song commemorates the history of the legendary fishing and racing schooner that has graced the Canadian 10-cent piece since 1937, featuring a maritime-flavoured, timeless toe-tapping rhythm and meaningful lyrics. The melody will become synonymous with the 'Bluenose IV' project; ultimately recorded in audio and video, in English and French versions - and eventually released as a DVD that will also include an educational 'Bluenose' documentary.

Visitors to this Inaugural Open House are also invited to explore the MARC, a fabulous 100+-acre park owned and operated by the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg (MODL), located directly across the road from the construction site for 'Bluenose IV' and Snyder's Shipyard. An agreement has been reached with MODL allowing the MARC serve as supporting infrastructure for the 'Bluenose IV' construction project providing parking areas and other essential ammenities as well as walking trails, picnic tables, benches and much, much more.
